-Canoe Trip, Leadership Meeting, Youth Group, Baptism Service…
I hope your July 4th weekend turned out to be a great time to be together with family and friends. I spent some time thinking about the freedom that I have as a citizen of the USA and it made me really thankful. I also pondered my spiritual freedom in Christ. Because of Jesus, I am free from sin and the impossible task of keeping God’s Law to be right with Him. FREEDOM is an awesome gift! “Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.” (Acts 13:38–39, ESV)
-We are having an Elder Meeting Thursday night. Contact one of us (John, Rob, Marty, or myself) if there is anything you would like to bring to our attention.
-Youth Group at Rob and Janet’s has been bumped back a few days to next week Wednesday. The date would be Wednesday, July 15th.
-Church Work Day will be this Saturday will be this Saturday at 9 AM. We are going to install a door and put some finishing touches on the storage shed. There is also some yard work to do. Lunch will be provided.
-Sunday Message-This Sunday David will be sharing from God’s Word in both services. Come and learn of a man who failed miserably but found God’s mercy and grace to finish well.
-Canoe Trip!!!!! This Sunday, July 12th, is the deadline to sign up for our canoe trip down the Snake River. This will be a two-day trip with an overnight campout. Right now we are planning for Friday and Saturday (July 17-18). Be prepared for deer flies, some portaging around trees and waterfalls, and lots of great adventures exploring God’s creation in the heart of cattle country! We still need help shuttling canoes. We are asking people to bring their own food. This will include Friday lunch, Friday supper over a fire, Saturday breakfast, and Saturday lunch. Also be thinking of snacks and water. We will have one stop on the way to refill water. A filter would also be a good idea. Lightweight tents and sleeping bags should be included as well. Be thinking of how to keep these items dry and how you will stow them in a canoe :-).
-Baptism Service- (Planning for August 2nd-we would like to do this before David leaves). If you know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and have never made a public profession of your faith through believer’s baptism, I want to encourage you to take that step. This will be a special way to identify with fellow believers. Immersion in water symbolizes our immersion into Christ and His Body. Please let me know if the Lord prompts you to pursue this. In fact, here is my cell number-(402) 322-3102.
Have a great rest of the week!
